PACE von der MADLAGE (born:
2/4/2009)
Pace arrived at our place on 14th Feb 2010, after 30 days in quarantine. The process has taken nearly two years since we first contacted her breeder, Klause Hemme. We wanted a black or black and white female and we just knew it was meant to be when her litter was born - she was the only black puppy in a litter of 11 pups. And we could not have been happier with the our new girl. We want to thank Klaus for his generosity in allowing the beautiful Pace to come all the way to Australia, to have fun doing agility. See the links below to see her progress.
Puppy Photos from
Germany
As she has continued to grow I have been very happy (and relieved) to see her develop into a beautiful, elegant, exuberant young bitch who, remembering she is still a puppy, was full of energy and drive, and yet gentle when needed including with her very young cousins. The weather, however was cause for concern. Click the link
to see the German winter. Then she had to come to the Australian summer.
Click the link to see her at each visit in quarantine. We are visiting her as often as possible, and keeping this page updated. Hopefully, the 30 days will pass very quickly.
Pace and her first brief visit home When we picked her up to Quarantine, Pace cam home briefly to burn off some energy before a 7 hour trip to a trial in Coffs Harbour.
Pace and her first week "at home"
I am not sure if Pace has worked out where home is. She has had a very busy
week. Click the link to see more.
Pace and up to her first birthday Pace has been with us for 3 weeks now. Here is an update on her progress. She has fitted in well, she now knows where home is and I think she now regards us as family. And she has discovered tunnels! We had a birthday "morning tea" with friends of Pace who went to an agility trial in Canberra - this was actually the day after her birthday Australian time, but it was probably still her birthday in Germany. This was her cake. It has a simple recipe - sausage mince, topped with melted cheese for icing and strips of liver treats as lettering. Mind you, this is the first time I have ever made a cake for one of my dogs' birthdays! The humans had a cake, too. See more information about her progress by clicking the heading.
Pace accompanies us to Western Australia Pace must now be one of the most travelled German Shorthaired Pointers in the world. Not only has she clocked up a trip of Germany to Australia, and been on several trips within NSW, she has now been across the breadth of Australia. This chapter might be more of a travel log about our trip, but Pace was part of this adventure. A little surprisingly, I did not take any photos of Pace while we were away. But I did take some nice shots of the scenery, and other dogs at the National trials.
After coming into season while we were away in Western Australia, we raced back to Sydney to organise an insemination with the frozen semen of Fenrik Never Say Never ADM JDM GD SD CDX FDX ET. On 4th June 2010 she was confirmed pregnant (with a small litter) by ultrasound. Pups are due 10th July. We are already getting excited. Pace is still continuing with her training and is showing no signs of slowing down.
Pace takes to motherhood like a duck takes to water . . . although not at first. Click on the link to see Pace with her first litter. |
